Neil noted that smaller operators are leading the way on this front, and encouraged larger players to get involved. He added that "Retailers such as B&Q with its how-to video content have shown that you can drive up site traffic by 20% using video search."

Last week Henry attended the Econsultancy 'Digital Cream' event in London, where we were sponsoring the Social Media table. It was a great event, which you can find out more about on their website here - a bit bizarrely the event was held under 'Chatham House Rules' - something we'd never come across before. This simply means none of what was said can be discussed outside of the event - a bit like Fight Club but for marketeers and managers! Marketing Week recently published an excellent analogy on search by Tanya Goodin, Tamar's CEO. She considers how in the world of SEO, where there are two main methods used to get websites noticed, paid search is like hiring a Bugatti Veyron for the day - it's fast, expensive and gets noticed. By contrast, natural search is like investing in a Volvo S40 - it's cheaper and more cost effective, not as fast, but can offer long term rewards.
