Tamar helps Comparethemarket to become the first site under 18 months old to make it into the Top 10!

Tamar began implementing the SEO campaign in June after initial reviews showed the site needed some strategic recommendations as well as immediate changes. It wasn't long after the changes were made that its rankings started improving. Tamar was then briefed to work on the brand new website which was launched in June 2007. The specific objectives were:

  • To get the site ranking in the top 10 for the competitive 'car insurance' term.
  • To make sure that SEO considerations were taken onboard prior to the site launch
  • To ensure that the online campaign took into consideration all the offline promotions
  • To continue to implement a complementary PPC campaign

Solution

Tamar's SEO team implemented a structured project plan that took into consideration the delicate nature of a new site but also the extensive offline advertising particularly that involving Channel 4.

  • Tamar implemented onsite and offsite solutions.
  • Onsite recommendations included Usability recommendations and general SEO guidance.
  • Offsite recommendations included a structured licks campaign, aggregated press releases and social media.

Results

Following the implementation of Tamar's specific SEO onsite recommendations in 2005, the old site went from not being listed at all in the search rankings to being listed in the top 40 (it is the only site in the top 40 younger than 18 months). It then maintained a natural climb up to the top 10 where it now sits firmly for key search terms, including 'car insurance' which is the most competitive term.
